Salinas is considered to be the best tourist beach resort in Ecuador, popular with tourists and locals alike, and is a great place for some beach time before or after a Galapagos voyage, with blue cloudless skies for much of the year.
Salinas is well-developed with bars, nightclubs and casinos … even a water park. Nonetheless, there are also a surprising number of wildlife-watching opportunities: most notably, for four months of the year, Humpback Whales come close to the shore; there is also great bird-watching at the nearby salt flats.
