Visit Copan in Western Honduras, the archaeological site of the Maya civilisation, not too far from the Guatemalan border. Over a five day itinerary we also journey to Tikal in northern Guatemala, one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya civilisation. This tour can be rearranged to start or end in Guatemala City if you'd prefer.

Day 1: San Pedro Sula - Copan: Breakfast

An early morning departure from the hotel/airport will take you through Western Honduras, following the Chamelecón River Valley. Throughout the trip you will see enchanting rural scenes, forested mountains, livestock farms, tobacco plantations and in the higher elevations, coffee plantations.

Arrival in Copan and after checking into our hotel, we will embark on a tour of this fascinating site. This tour will include the acropolis, the ball court, the hieroglyphic stairway and the great plaza of the stelaes.

Return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Copan - Flores: Breakfast

After breakfast, we are back on the road, this time in Guatemala. Although, this will be a long ride, we will be rewarded with the many interesting sites along the road. We will reach the town of Flores in the late afternoon and we will check in at the hotel Peten Esplendido. Today  we suggest that you relax around the pool of our hotel.

Day 3: Tikal: Breakfast

Today we visit Tikal and depart as early as possible in order to enjoy the view of the sunrise over the great temple of the Jaguar. The park covers 222 square miles amidst the thick, tropical jungle of El Petén. Created in 1958, UNESCO declared the park a "Monument of the World's Heritage" in 1979. It is regarded as one of the most important cultural and natural reserves in the world and there are more than 4,000 structures or constructions in Tikal.

The Great Plaza: The most spectacular structure in Tikal is the plaza surrounded by stelae and sculpted altars, ceremonial buildings, residential and administrative palaces, and a ball court. At each end of the plaza loom the Temple of the Great Jaguar and the Temple II.

Return to our hotel in Flores.

Day 4: Tikal - Copan: Breakfast

Again we take another long ride back to our starting point. We will ride back to Copan, and, upon arrival to Copan check-in at our hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Remember, you are spending your last night of the tour in one of the most charming towns in Honduras. You will be able to stroll the cobblestone streets, explore the many restaurants and cafe's, hunt for souvenir bargains and mingle with the friendly people of the town.                                                                                                                                                           Day 5: Copan - San Pedro Sula: Breakfast

We will enjoy breakfast in the restaurant llama del Bosque, famous for it’s tortillas & refried beans, then we will visit the archaeological museum in town. This  will be a perfect complement to what you have seen in the main site itself.

Return to the hotel for check-out & transfer to San Pedro Sula where your tour ends.
