Falklands Antarctica Cruises

About 250 nautical miles off the coast of South America lay the Falkland Islands. An archipelago, consisting of over 700 islands including the main islands of “East” and “West” Falkland, these land masses are adorned in rugged beauty of dramatic rock faces set against stunning skies. This unique part of the world is a must see.

Living under brightly coloured rooves, approximately 3,000 people live scattered amongst the islands; predominantly British descendants, they mostly make a living off sheep farming and fishing.  As many isolated folk around the world are, the people of the Falkland Islands are always pleased to welcome visitors.

The Falkland Islands are home to King, Gentoo, Magellanalic, and Rockhopper penguins, and are literally  alive with wildlife antics. You may spot whales or dolphins in the harbour, seal, sea lions and walruses basking on the rocks, or some of the 227 bird species that fill the skies. It’s a rare place on earth where nature and man truly live in harmony.

In 1982 the Falkland Islands were the battle ground for the stand off between Argentina and Great Britain over the sovereignty of these islands, as a result over 1,000 people lost their lives during a 72 day confrontation. Today you can visit museums and monuments to learn more about the battle.
