Travelling to Cuba is fascinating on every level and a Cuba tour with Chimu Adventures will give you the best possible chance to enjoy the largest island in the Caribbean.
Following fifty years of US trade embargos, Communist Cuba is a country stuck in time. Weathered historical buildings have a faded charm, vintage cars continue to cruise the city streets and the countryside still sees traditional farming practices and rural ways, in a land where very little has changed since the 1950s.
Despite the increase in tourism, Cuba remains true to its identity – you will not find the usual shops and fast-food chains here. But behind the scenes there is an interesting blend of communism with capitalism, and times are changing. With the recent departure of Fidel Castro at the helm, these changes seem likely to continue – especially when the end of the US embargo inevitably comes.
No Cuba tour is complete without time in one of the major cities: Havana, Santiago de Cuba or the more sedate town of Trinidad. Countryside lovers will enjoy walking and cycling in the beautiful Pinar del Rio region, or the hills of Topes de Collantes and Sierra Maestra.
Cuba is also famous for its beaches – large resorts, hidden bays and idyllic isles can be found across the country, from the famous resorts of Varadero to the charmingly remote village of Maria la Gorda in the far west. Travel here is also always accompanied by its own soundtrack of Cuba’s distinctive, ubiquitous and irresistible music.
So, light up an enormous cigar, drink a fabulous mojito cocktail in the style of Ernest Hemmingway and try a few of those salsa moves... on one of Chimu Adventures’ Cuba holidays!

Just some feedback on our stay in Cuba. We had an amazing holiday, and it was due to Onay Gonza'lez as our guide. We are very well travelled, but this Cuban stay will be a stand out memory and we will recommend your service to our friends and family. Mike and Narelle.
