Bordering Brazil to the North and East of Argentina, Uruguay lies only a one hour fast ferry ride from Buenos Aires. It is South America’s second smallest country, lined with over 300km of pristine coastline. Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay where over half the population reside, offers the perfect combination of charm, culture and style. A city tour of Montevideo will take you to sites such as Ciudad vieja (Old City), the Cathedral and Colonial Town Hall, the Port Market, Downtown shops, Independence Square, Parliament Palace and the romantic neighbourhood known as "el Prado".
To the west lies the charming sea-side village of Colonia which as its name suggests, offers an enriching insight into the colonial history of the city with some interesting museums open to visitors.
