A 9 day exploration through the Amazon aboard a 19th century style boat!Day 1 Lima
Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.
Day 2 Iquitos / Amazon Riverboat (B,D)
Fly to Iquitos. Included city tour and transfer to the boat. Embarkation and cast off on the Amazon River.
Day 3 Marañon River / Amazon River / Ucayali River (B,L,D)
Sail towards the confluence of the Marañon and Ucayali Rivers, considered to be the beginning of the Amazon River. Boat and land excursions to spot wildlife and a chance to see the giant Victoria Regia water lilies.
Day 4,5 Marañon River / Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (2B,2L,2D)
Excursions by foot and small boats in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve for abundant wildlife viewing opportunities and the chance to interact with the locals and learn about traditional life in the jungle. Onboard presentations and educational discussions about the wildlife and meet a local shaman, or spiritual healer. Opportunity for a unique perspective of the jungle from a canopy walkway in the reserve.
Day 6 Marañon River / Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (B,L,D)
Early morning excursion and picnic breakfast. Opportunities for piraña fishing and excursions by dugout canoe with the locals. Chance for swimming and keeping an eye out for pink or grey river dolphins before attending a jungle cooking lesson to learn about and sample the local cuisine. Evening excursion by small boat to spot the nocturnal wildlife like black caiman.
Day 7 Nauta / Sapisapi River (B,L,D)
Call at the port of Nauta where the Ucayali and Marañon Rivers meet. Tour the town and local markets with opportunities for shopping and interacting with the locals. Afternoon excursion on the Sapisapi River to search for wildlife before an evening dinner party and music onboard the boat.
Day 8 Iquitos / Lima (B)
Early return to Iquitos. Disembark and transfer to the airport for the flight back to Lima. Free afternoon for an optional city tour or for individual exploration.
Day 9 Lima (B)
Depart at any time.
