Detailed Itinerary (Option 1)

Monday: San Cristóbal Arrival– León Dormido –Lobos Island

San Cristóbal airport: Your guide will welcome you at the airport and take you to the boat in order to start your 8-day cruise. Lunch on board. The first visit is Leon Dormido, which is a really gigantic rock formed by a volcanic eruption. It is divided by a narrow canal that small boats can pass through. This rock is home for a great number of sea birds. It is also a good spot for snorkelling. The second visit is Lobos Island. This island has beautiful scenery and we will have the chance to see blue-footed boobies and sea lions. Wet landing.

Tuesday: Española: Punta Suárez  -  Gardner Bay

Today we will visit Española Island; which is known for having amazing colonies of sea birds in Galapagos. First we will make a dry landing at Punta Suarez, where Sea lions and mockingbirds will welcome us. Lunch on board while we travel to Gardner Bay; this bay is a 45-minute boat ride from Punta Suarez. Gardner Bay has a white sand beach and there is a small colony of sea lions. The possibilities for swimming and taking pictures are excellent here.

Wednesday: Floreana: Devil’s Crown – Post Office. Punta Cormorant

Today in Floreana Island, we will visit Devil’s Crown (Corona del Diablo); this place is excellent for snorkelling; the beautiful coral formations offer a wonderful underwater panorama. You can also easily see schools of multi-colored fish, sharks and marine turtles at a depth of only 6 meters. In Post Office Bay, you will see the famous barrel that served as the mailbox for eighteenth century whaling ships. Now tourists leave their unstamped letters or postcards for the next passengers to mail. The last visit of the day is Punta cormorant with its beach of green olivine crystal sand. The island has a lagoon filled with flamingos. Walking on towards the other side, there is a fine white sand beach where marine turtles nest from December to May. Wet landing.

Thursday: Charles Darwin Station – Highlands (Santa Cruz Island)

Santa Cruz (Indefatigable).- This is the most heavily populated island in the archipelago. Its port, Puerto Ayora, is an obligatory stop for all ships, so there are many hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, discotheques, bars, internet coffee shops and other stores where tourists can spend their time shopping or getting to know other people. The most important site on this island is the Charles Darwin Scientific Station. An excellent way to begin learning about the islands and their origin and formation is to visit the Station. You can also see how the Galapagos turtles are raised and meet the famous lonesome George. After lunch, we will relax on a bus ride up to the highlands of Santa Cruz Island for a visit to the native forests and twin craters. We will see a drastic change of scenery as we ascend to the green, lush areas on the highest points of the island. We will return to Puerto Ayora to board Seaman Catamaran II.

Friday: Punta Moreno (Isabela) – Elizabeth Bay (Isabela)

This day we will visit Isabela Island; this is the largest island in the archipelago. It has 6 active volcanoes: Alcedo, Cerro Azul, Darwin, Ecuador, Sierra Negra and Wolf. The enormous amount of lava expelled by these volcanoes formed this island. Our first stop is Punta Moreno, which is located on the southwestern side of Isabela. From here there is a spectacular view of the Alcedo, Sierra Negra and Cerro Azul volcanoes and there are a number of lagoons with different kinds of birds such as frigate birds, flamencos and pelicans. We explore the beautiful Elizabeth bay by dinghy as Galapagos Hawks soar overhead and schools of fish be seen swimming underneath the boat.

Saturday: Urbina Bay (Isabela)  – Punta Espinosa  (Fernandina)

This morning, after breakfast, we will have a wet landing in Urbina Bay , we will take a walk to see giant tortoises and land iguanas. After this, depending on weather & water conditions, we may have an opportunity to snorkel or swim. After lunch we have a dry landing in Fernandina Island, which has a beautiful backdrop of black rock and lava. Here there are colonies of marine iguanas, a great number of penguins, colonies of flightless cormorants and pelicans. The vegetation is quite different because of the lava and in certain places the plants are dry.

Sunday: Bartolomé Island – Plazas Is.

Bartolome.- On this island it is possible to see interesting formations of lava and ash cones. After a 30 to 40-minute climb to the high part, a wooden stairway goes to the top where there is a beautiful view of the nearest bays. This island is one of the most visited and photographed because of its Pinnacle Rock and the sea lions and penguins around its base. Dry landing. After lunch we will visit Plazas Island, where we will have good opportunities to see a great number of birds such as nesting tropic birds and fork-tailed seagulls, but most of all, we will enjoy the beautiful view from atop the steep banks or strolling along the base of the cliff is an extremely pleasurable experience.

Monday: Interpretation Center – Departure (San Cristóbal)

This morning we will visit Interpretation center of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, Here we spend our last morning in the islands reviewing the natural and human history of the Islands. We return to the airport to check in for our flight back to mainland. Happy return to Quito or Guayaquil.
