Enquire NowA two day version of the classic Inca Trail

This trail offers a great alternative to trekking the classic 4-day Inca Trail. This easier trek is more suitable for those who have limited time but still want to experience the thrill of hiking down, to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) at sunrise, to appreciate the unforgettable views of Machu Picchu in the distance.

Note: Due to restrictions on the number of people allowed to trek the Inca Trail daily by the Peruvian Government, we recommend booking at least 3 months in advance (6 months for the May-September peak season) to ensure that you can trek your desired dates.

Day 1: Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna (2,650 m.a.s.l.): Lunch, Dinner

Transfer from the hotel to take the tourist class train to Km 104 where we will begin the trek to the archaeological remains of Chachabamba (2,270m / 7448ft) and Wiñay Wayna (2,650m / 8694ft), 2 of the most important sites within Machu Picchu Santuary.

On arrival we will walk to Puerta del Sol or the Inti Punku observation point and down into the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu (2,400m / 7874ft). (Please note that tour of the Sanctuary will be the next day).

Continue by shuttle bus down the hill to the village of Machu Picchu, where you will stay overnight.
Hiking time 06 hours.

Day 2: Village of Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes) – Sanctuary of Machu Picchu – Cusco (3,399 m.a.s.l.)

In the morning take the shuttle bus and tour of the archaeological centre of Machu Picchu. Walk down the hill to the Village of Aguas Calientes.

Return by train in the afternoon to Ollanta Station and regular transfer by bus to Cusco and your hotel.

Did you know that almost all Chimu Adventures tours are customisable?

At Chimu Adventures we do tailor-made itineraries at group tour prices! Most itineraries can be changed to suit you. You’ll still be in small groups each day, meeting lots of people. It just won’t be the same group everyday - which sometimes has it’s benefits!

Please also be aware that our site is broken into a number of home pages and each home pages gives you detailed information on that particular area within Latin America. Go to the 'Look for Tours in' drop down menu at the top of the page to choose a particular home page.

And remember - we only specialise in travel to Latin America. It’s our passion and we’d love to be able to give you a quote for your dream holiday. Click here now to send us an enquiry for your dream trip to South America. Alternatively drop into our office at any time - it's just a two minute walk from London Bridge Station.
