Travelling to Antarctica is a huge bucket list item, so Box Rallies has scheduled the Icebox Expedition almost two years away to give supporters time to plan and save for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
The Antarctic expedition cruise season runs from late October through March, but each month of the season is amazing for wildlife, icebergs, and landscapes—you can’t go wrong, no matter when you travel.
By joining Icebox Expedition, a percentage of your trip cost will be automatically donated to Cancer Council.
If you want to go to the next level, we are encouraging participants to Polar Plunge and get involved with other initiatives along the way to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
Due to the longer timeline of Icebox Expedition; fundraising pages for the Polar Plunge & other fundraising initiatives will open 6 months prior to departure
Registrations for Icebox Expedition will open on April 7th 2026.
Once you have registered your interest via Box Rallies, a Chimu Adventure travel specialist will reach out to take you through securing your spot.

You will then receive an acceptance email from Box Rallies confirming your spot on Icebox Expedition.
Please note- places on Icebox Expedition are allocated on a first-to-pay-deposit basis.
Full itinerary balance must be paid to Chimu by 125 days out from departure. All questions relating to the trip itinerary, payments & cancellations should be directed to Chimu Adventures not Box Rallies.

The Antarctic peninsula and sub-Antarctic islands are a true paradise for wildlife and a photographers dream! The wildlife observed will vary based on the sites visited, the time of year, and the weather conditions, but commonly-seen species include a plethora of seabirds, including albatross, skuas, petrals and and terns, plus many penguin species; gentoo, adelie and chinstrap are the most common in the area. March is also prime time for viewing whales up close and personal, many humpbacks will be in the region at that time of year, you may also be lucky to see orcas, minke and fin whales. Frequently seen in the area are also fur seals and the mighty leopard seal and, if you are lucky, on the islands near by, elephant seals.
Yes, and you will receive 500mb free internet usage. To keep connected you can pay as you go, but we recommend, if possible, that travellers take this opportunity to disconnect and really live in the moment of Antarctica.
At times, the Drake Passage can produce turbulent seas, but most expedition vessels are built for stability and comfort to ensure that even in rough conditions, sea and motion sickness are kept to a minimum at all times. Navigating the Drake Passage is all part of the Icebox adventure & the Chimu’s expert team will make you as comfortable as possible for the journey. Chimu also offers a host of services and facilities available should symptoms befall you.
As everyone is different, we recommend you consult your doctor to take sea sickness prevention medication with you to suit your personal constitution.
All Chimu’s cruises are 100% tried and tested to ensure that when you travel with them, you’re doing so in a controlled and safe environment with trained experts. Chimu and operating brand Polar Latitudes consistently monitor weather conditions and will always provide you with the best possible adventure without risk of injury to you or the vessel. While some activities may need to be rescheduled or cancelled due to weather, every effort is made to have a contingency plan should such conditions become a reality during your expedition.
Chimu have been the experts in Antarctic travel for over 20 years, even Chimu's consulting staff have travelled there multiple times on many vessels. In logistics and operations they use their vast experience and knowledge when picking the vessels they sell to provide you with an adventure that’s unforgettable for all the right reasons.
