Solo & Group Travel Tours

Solo Travel: Sometimes it is just not possible to co-ordinate your travel with a friend or a loved one, but that does not mean that you have to forsake your travel dreams. Chimu has a range of group tours and expedition cruises that you can join, giving you the chance to share your journey and experiences with like-minded travellers, and giving you access to regions of Latin America that may be hard to visit by yourself. You can either pay a single supplement to have your own hotel room or cabin each night, or you can choose to share a room with another solo traveller of the same sex.

On our expedition cruises plus a number of set itineraries we can also match you up with another solo traveller to help avoid single supplements costs.

Group Travel: Whether you are travelling solo or as a couple or as a group of friends, Chimu has a range of fully escorted small group tours with set departure dates that you can join. Travelling on a group tour on one of our unique itineraries allows you to explore Latin America surrounded by like-minded travellers and gives you access to some of the more remote regions that would be hard to visit independently. We even provide the option for groups to charter one of our group tours and run it on a private basis.

Our small group tours offer many advantages such as travelling with a tour leader who can provide inside information accumulated over years of travel and guiding experience. They can advise you on a host of things from the best local restaurants and street foods to vistas that provide stunning photo opportunities and fascinating hidden sights off the main tourist trails. Providing excellent value for money, these tours are highly inclusive, meaning no hidden costs and no unexpected extras. Our small group tours provide the perfect balance between organised sightseeing and free time to explore on your own. We offer 2 types of small group tours - Overland Expeditions and Discovery Tours.

Overland Expeditions: In South America we offer a range of Overland Expeditions that can take you off-the-beaten track to explore some of the remoter regions of this incredible continent as well as the must-see highlights. Travelling in a custom-built expedition vehicle with a maximum of 16 travellers, these expeditions are fairly active, yet comfortable, affordable and stress-free.

Discovery Tours: Our Discovery Tours are escorted small group tours with a maximum group size of 20, travelling by various means of transport from private vehicles to buses, boats, planes and trains. These tours are a great way to discover the highlights of Latin America in the company of expert tour leaders and knowledgeable local guides, sharing the experiences with others. In towns and cities we stay in quality tourist class hotels that are charming, well-located and characteristic of the areas we are travelling through. In the more remote regions we stay in rustic cabins, guesthouses and hiking lodges.

Travelling as a Couple: If travelling as a couple or with a friend you again have the option to join one of our many small group tours and travel in the company of others in a fun and exciting way, but still with time to explore on your own.

Private Group Travel: Perhaps you are a group of friends or colleagues or a family looking to travel as a private group? All of our small group tours can be run as private departures exclusively for your group. Chartering a tour on a private basis also allows you flexibility to amend the itinerary to suit you, and depending on the availability of our guides and vehicles there is also some flexibility to specify your travel dates. Of course we are also able to offer you a custom designed group tour, created by our team of Latin America travel specialists. These can include trekking tours for hiking clubs; rugby, football and golf tours for sports enthusiasts; child friendly and fun tours for family groups; educational and cultural tours for schools; incentive packages for corporate groups; farming and agricultural tours; wine and gastronomy tours; photography tours and even a ukulele tour to discover the sounds of Mexico & Cuba! See below our suggested itineraries designed by our specialist team. Choose a set departures or speak to our team to customize a journey to suit your group.
