Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epic Antarctica The title of the trip really did sum up this tour - it was epic!! The scenery, the wildlife, the weather, the friendships and laughs shared by all. Everything ran smoothly, Meg and all the expedition staff onboard were wonderful and helped out in every way possible. Safety was always number 1 priority and plan Bs were in place in the events that weather conditions prohibited plan A (and in those cases plan B still turned out as great as what plan A would have been). Knowledgeable staff, zodiac rides were lots of fun and adventurous and the camraderie was sensational. Can't wait to save up money for the next trip! Thanks Chimu!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely breathtaking We spent the best 11 days of our life on the expedition to Antarctica? This says much as we have bee to more that 45 countries. The ship experience on board Quark Ocean Endeavour as well as landings on Antarctica cannot be expressed adequately even with umpteen superlatives. People of different countries became fast friends and helped each other out on the landings. I would urge everyone who reads this to start saving up and go to Antarctica. Remember the North Pole has no land mass as such, only tips of different countries. Antarctica is a continent on its own!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Peru The Itinerary worked very well and we managed to fit a lot in the time frame. We are met at every destination with very helpful representatives and transferred to our hotel. We were given lots of information / maps etc. in each destination and provided with 24 hour contact numbers. Larry in Cuzco was very impressive - he met us at our hotel shortly after we arrived and spent a lot of time with us going over the entire itinerary - gave us maps and lots of information for Cuzco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu and the Jungle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from First time to Peru The organisation and logistics was excellent. BUT ... although we were given a detailed itinerary, we were not provided with the essential information on regular early starts and long days. Had we had this info, we would have scheduled differently and had a much more enjoyable trip than the exhausting experience we endured. Consideration should be given to the age & fitness of the tourist, as this is an arduous trip which could be beyond some older people, especially when adding in the altitude problems. The insistence on providing Peruvian buffets during excursions (with no other option) was very limiting and boring. These comments must be tempered by the fact that we are obviously not the adventure type of tourist; we were looking for a vacation, not an expedition.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GOOD TIMES AND BAD Lack of support from Chimu company associates on the ground in destination countries when things go wrong. Other travellers involved in our boat sinking disaster had extensive on-going support from their booking agents in the UK and Canada, with offers of medical and financial support if needed. No-one from Chimu in South America made contact with us. Chimu's response, from Australia, can be summarised as "You're both OK? Good. Hope you can put it behind you and enjoy the rest of the trip." AND no contact from Chimu since we arrived back in Australia! Had planned for the Antarctic to be our next big trip, but at this stage, we will be looking to go with another tour operator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The 7th Continent An absolutely amazing trip. A few hiccups but that is what you have to expect with adventure travel. Seamless organisation with transfers, additional accommodation and flights. When can I go again??!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Our out of this world trip We have just returned from a fantastic 2 month trip to South America and Antarctica which we booked mostly through Chimu. We were really impressed with the service, trip ideas and inclusions and seamless service offered as we travelled through 3 South American countries under our own steam and to Antarctica on a One Ocean expedition also organised by Chimu. We are happy to recommend Chimu as a professional company that helps make a mega trip like ours so much easier as they do all the legwork and all we had to do was turn up at the right time/place. Thanks to Keiron at Chimu for all his support. We are keen to visit South America again and would definately use Chimu to assist us in organising the trip if we do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Enjoyable trip Paraty was lovely and the Casa Turquoise fantastic. Salvador was very interesting- in reality only need 11/2 days there, 2 nights maximum. Recommended hotel choice in Morro San Paulo was very disappointing- Vila dos Orixas. This was a key part of a special holiday and it was a poorly maintained and serviced hotel, staff uninterested to rude, and did upset us both as this should have been very special and I am surprised it was suggested if the firm has actually been there. The next door hotel L'Anima is far better and would have been a better choice.
