La Selva has become a private reserve, and thanks to the contracts that have been signed with the community of Pilchi, hunting and fishing have been greatly reduced, as has the cutting down of trees. La Selva has an agreement to pay the community a monthly wage, plus participate in special projects such as construction of sewing centres, sanitary facilities and schools; as well as health care and transportation projects, in exchange for the use of the land that borders La Selva.

From its beginnings 25 years ago, La Selva has embarked on a journey of outreach and community service to Pilchi and other communities along the Napo River, as well as projects that directly aid the planet in the true spirit of ecotourism.

In addition, the new cabins have been constructed with fast growing bamboo from plantations.

Traditional Hut FB Room
La Selva Amazon Ecolodge sits on the edge of Lake Garzacocha. The eighteen spacious and airy cabanas are inspired by native bamboo designs and the food is the pride of the lodge. The cabanas have ceiling fans and bathrooms with hot showers and amenities such as hairdryers, shampoo and conditioner. Some of the cabanas also have rainforest showers, private balconies and hammocks. La Selva is home to many trails, an observation tower and a large butterfly farm. There are a number of possible excursions from the lodge with an English-speaking guide, some more physically challenging than others. La Selva runs regular jungle programs, normally 3 or 4 night programs but these can be altered on request. Their itineraries includes walks and canoe rides by night, time spent at an observation tower that gives spectacular views across the rainforest canopy and extensive walking trails. From here you can also visit the Yasuni National Park with the opportunity to see a variety of birds, monkeys, insects and reptiles. Don't forget your binoculars and your camera!
