Enjoy this 5 day tour in Bolivia taking in one highlight after another. Unquestionably, one of them will be hiking with llamas at Island of the Sun. You will experience Bolivia's fascinating cultural wonders on this short and well packed tour.

ITINERARY INSPIRATION

Private transportation from La Paz to Copacabana (3 ½ hours), a nice town in the shores of Lake Titicaca, continue to La Gruta, where the hike starts (3 hours) going up an Inca trail until the pass with an amazing views of the area. Box-lunch included.

Continue to Yampupata. Hike down to the bay and take a boat to the Island of the Sun (30 min), the sacred spot of the Incas, land near Pilkokaina ruins, visit them and hike for about one hour to overnight in Ecolodge La Estancia.

La Paz/Puno / Island of the Sun

DON’T MISS A GREAT SUNRISE! Take a boat to the northern part of the island, visit La Chincana ruins and Sacred Rock (1 hour), and then hike crossing most of the island back to the Ecolodge (3 hours). Lunch.

Afternoon free to enjoy the beauty and mysticism of the area. Overnight in Ecolodge La Estancia.

Boat to La Chincana / Hike Island of the Sun

Hike through the village of Yumani in the Garden of the Incas, to take the boat to Copacabana (1 hour). Transportation to “La Rinconada” at the foothills of the Andes Range. After lunch (box-lunch) hike about 2 hours to Chiarkota Lagoon and back. Return to La Paz. Overnight in hotel.

3) Chimu’s “Pass it on” programme has provided funding to hundreds of local community projects in Latin America. Our aim is to empower local communities, helping them to develop their own infrastructure for the future. Since 2006, we have been working with Kiva (a well-known Non-Governmental Organisation), providing hundreds of loans to local businesses all over South America.

4) In our pre tour information we provide a range of tips and advice on how to minimise your impact on both local environments and communities.

5) Chimu Adventures’ offices also take a number of sustainability measures including carbon offsets for company vehicles and most staff travel. Chimu Adventure’s internal processes are also structures to create a paperless office and to reduce waste. There are also internal programmes to help staff minimise their carbon footprint such as our staff bike purchase assistance plan which encourages office staff to commute to work via bicycle. Currently almost half of our office based staff commute to work via bicycle.
