Packing Essentials


What you take will depend on when and where you are travelling and the types of activities included in your tour.
 
The following should act as a useful checklist of essential items:
 
  • Ÿ Ÿ Passport - Ensure that it is valid, in good condition with empty pages available
  • Ÿ Ÿ Photocopy of Passport
  • Ÿ Ÿ Travel Insurance - Ensure that it will be valid for the entire journey
  • Ÿ Ÿ Passport Photos - Often needed for identification passes and certain overseas visas
  • Ÿ Ÿ Air tickets and itinerary
  • Ÿ Ÿ Foreign Currency (US$) and/or debit/credit cards, traveller’s cheques
  • Ÿ Ÿ Debit/credit card cancellation phone numbers
  • Ÿ Ÿ Emergency contact numbers
  • Ÿ Ÿ Money belt - Ensure that it is discrete and comfortable to wear
  • Ÿ Ÿ Small daypack (for day or overnight trips)
  • Ÿ Ÿ Basic First Aid kit - Band Aids/Bandages, Anti-diarrhoea remedy, Panadol/Aspirin, dehydration remedy, Antiseptic cream/powder, Sterile dressing, Personal medication
  • Ÿ Ÿ Sun block - High UVA protection ideally
  • Ÿ Ÿ Sunglasses & sunhat
  • Ÿ Ÿ Mosquito spray & insect repellent
  • Ÿ Ÿ Comfortable walking shoes (wear these in well before your trip)
  • Ÿ Ÿ Sandals
  • Ÿ Ÿ Long sleeve top and trousers - Useful to protect against mosquitoes at dawn and dusk and the sun through the day
  • Ÿ Ÿ Light-weight clothing
  • Ÿ Ÿ Warm clothing (depending on itinerary and time of year)
  • Ÿ Ÿ Camera with spare battery and memory cards
  • Ÿ Ÿ Security code padlock
  • Ÿ Ÿ Adaptor
  • Ÿ Ÿ Small torch
