“I love Brazil. Any country that has a public holiday for the best part of a week so the entire nation can party gets my vote!”
From the moment I set foot on Latin American soil, I knew it was for me. It’s a region that has absolutely everything! My main Latin American adventure involved travelling for six months around Central and South America. This included visits to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and finally my favourite country Brazil. Why Brazil, well it has everything you need to have a good time with incredibly friendly and happy people who seem to excel in making the most out of life. My main advice for a good time in Latin America is to get involved as much as you can. Had I given into my fears (I’m terrified of heights) I would have never climbed the steps to the top of one of the temples in Tikal and witnessed the incredible view of the sun setting over the jungle as the toucans and monkeys lined the trees around me.
Since then I’ve ticked off travelling to all 7 continents and have visited Antarctica which stands out as a once in a lifetime experience and something I can’t recommend enough! The breathtaking beauty of the untouched natural environment combined with the opportunities you have to get up close to the wildlife is something very, very special!
It’s great that despite now living back in the UK, I still have the opportunity to deal with these regions on a daily basis by planning other people’s itineraries and providing them with some of the experiences I’ve been lucky enough to have while travelling there. For me travel is one of the best forms of education and I really enjoy working in a role that allows me to pass on some of the things I have learned during my adventures.
