“My first impressions of stepping on to South American soil was thinking that this place rocked....... literally! But that’s what a 9 day sailing adventure from Panama to Colombia did to my depth perception!"
It took me a day to lose the ‘sea legs’ but in that day I meandered around the beautiful city of Cartagena and was immediately fascinated by the city’s colonial architecture, the friendliness of the Colombians and the way the city seamlessly blended the old and the new, while still managing to respect its political and economic history.
I have travelled extensively through Latin America having spent an unforgettable year traversing Central and South America from North to South. Starting in Mexico I travelled to Cuba, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica & Panama, before taking a memorable sail boat ride with a Colombian captain from Panama to the shores of South America where I visited Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina & Chile.
Out of so many destinations it is extremely difficult to pick a favourite out of so much diversity. However the Amazon jungle, the Pantanal and Patagonia were definite stand-outs! I really enjoyed Patagonia due to its untouched magnificence and immensity of landscape. The sheer panoramic beauty of the region has been unsurpassed in my travels to date. Towering monoliths, acres of wild flowers, powder blue lakes and streams that you can literally stick your head in and drink from, not to mention the ever present foxes and guanacos...... all in all an impressive part of the world that still maintains its sense of wildness and adventure.
These memories will stay with me forever and it is pleasing to know that I can now use these rich and satisfying experiences to help you find your own perfect journey.
