Nicolas Cary

With a love for wildlife and the environment, I joined Chimu in December 2022 with an interest in sustainable travel. As Product Coordinator,  I wanted to work in Product for a company that has a strong focus on the environment and wildlife experiences so I can still affect conservation in a positive way. 

Before joining the Product team at Chimu Adventures, I worked in Reservations at World Expeditions, Adventure World, and as a Retail Sales Agent at Flight Centre. I also worked at the Los Angeles Zoo as a California Condor Keeper as part of their Species Recovery Program before coming to Australia. In college, I also worked as a research assistant through western Mexico, travelling in research vehicles as part of a large biodiversity study. I’ve also explored Argentina, Uganda, and New Zealand, to name a few, and I love birdwatching everywhere I go. The Galapagos Islands are my dream destination for this!

I’ve been lucky enough to travel on a scenic flight over Antarctica with Chimu, an amazing experience. My top tips for travellers to South and Central America is to learn at least a little Spanish before you go and also to enjoy the food! Street tacos in Guadalajara and meats cooked in salsa verde are some of my favourites in Mexico. 

Outside of work, I'm passionate about birdwatching, bonsai, viticulture, entomology, and cooking.
