Arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina - the world’s southernmost town. Explore the quaint city or local countryside. Alternatively, consider a day trip off the beaten path to the raw, natural archipelago of Tierra del Fuego. It's a hiker's paradise with rugged snow-capped mountains, glaciers, flower-filled meadows and boggy quagmires. In the afternoon, we board our ship, Ocean Victory.
You will have the opportunity to cruise around the legendary Cape Horn. This famous and rarely visited island marks the point where the waters of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans meet.
Glacier alley is one of the most impeccable sailing routes in all the Beagle Channel, if not South America. An array of massive tidewater glaciers await, many of which are named after European countries, due to the 19th century explorers who first mapped the region. This incredible alley is home to some of the most incredible sights in South America.
Continue deep inland to some of the most remote and stunning locations of Chile. These fjords are home to quaint fishing settlements set a against a lush backdrop of mountain peaks. A truly humbling experience awaits, as you witness the incredible lifestyles of the various rural communities.
Puerto Natales serves as the gateway to the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. This former modest fishing village is teeming with rich history and incredibly rich cultural interactions with locals.
The next days will be spent sailing through the Chilean Fjords. This location is rich with incredible sights. The Bruggen Glacier, known has the Pio XI Glacier is a large mass 66km in length and the longest glacier in the Southern hemisphere outside of Antarctica.
Tortel is a quaint fishing village now left as a national monument. Still isolate, the locals here are more open toward tourism and are keen to share their incredible experiences.
Located in Chile's lake district the city of Castro is a small cosmopolitan. Castro is set among windswept hills and lush vegetation. The city is known for its colourful “palafitos”, wooden houses mounted on stilts along the water's edge. While here, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Iglesia de San Francisco.
The following day will be spent at your own leisure. As you sail toward Valparaiso, reflect on the incredible journeys you have made so far with your fellow passengers and enjoy the various activities offered on board.
This remarkable expedition cruise ends in the colourful and poetic port of Valparaíso. One of the best ways of seeing this scenic town is to climb the hills aboard a funicular, which allows sweeping views. We recommend extending your cruise by adding an optional Post-programme to the amazing Atacama Desert.
