Immerse yourself in the town’s vibrant culture before experiencing the authentic gaucho lifestyle at Estancia Nibepo Aike, complete with horse riding, sheep shearing, and a traditional Patagonian asado. Then, set sail on the Santa Cruz for an unforgettable cruise through the breath taking glacial landscapes, culminating in up-close encounters with the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier*.

ITINERARY

Arrive in El Calafate

You will arrive in the quaint tourist town of El Calafate, the gateway to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. As you wander the main street, Avenida del Libertador, you will discover souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes, chocolate and ice cream shops. At the latter, be sure to try some ice cream made using the Calafate berry from which the town gets its name. Today is an arrival day, and you are free to explore at your leisure.

Estancia Visit

No trip to Argentina is complete without a visit to an Estancia. These parcels of land, which are similar to a ranch or a farm are significant to the country’s history and today’s journey to Estancia Nibepo Aike allows you to truly experience the authentic lifestyle of the gauchos who live and work on this land. Initially called Estancia Jeronima, Nibepo Aike covers more than 12,000 hectares at the foot of the Patagonian Andes and is primarily a Hereford cattle ranch. You will enjoy a short horse ride before watching a demonstration of the gaucho’s horse handling skills and see the shearers at work in the shearing sheds. You can also milk the cows. To finish your day you will enjoy an asado, a typical Patagonian barbeque lunch before being returned to your hotel.

Embark - Spirit Of The Glaciers Cruise

This morning you'll be picked up from your hotel in El Calafate and driven to the port for your journey aboard the Santa Cruz. Departing at 10:00am from Puerto La Soledad, setting sail toward the North Arm of Lake Argentino. The navigation continues through the Upsala Channel, where sweeping panoramic views create a stunning backdrop. The experience reaches a highlight with a visit to the majestic Spegazzini Glacier, where the vessel pauses to fully take in its towering beauty. Lunch will be served on board here, offering a truly exceptional dining experience amidst extraordinary surroundings.

Later, the journey continues to Las Vacas Bay, where you disembark for a guided hike. This exploration includes a visit to the historic Las Vacas Post and concludes at the Spegazzini Lookout, where breathtaking views of the Spegazzini, Peineta, and Mayo glaciers unfold before you. The voyage continues to Toro Bay, where the ship anchors for the evening.

As night falls, you’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner on board, rounding out the day in style before turning into your cabin for a restful nights stay.

Note: Route and daily disembarkations subject to change at the captain’s discretion and/or due to weather conditions.
