OVERVIEW

Explora Patagonia was designed as the perfect base from where to explore Torres del Paine National Park. With an exclusive location and unparalleled views, you can choose among 40 explorations –either hiking or horseback riding– to some of the circuits of the renowned W and other less explored routes that will help you get familiarized with the typical geography and wildlife of Patagonia. The rooms are the perfect combination of simplicity and comfort in order to ensure a deep rest after a day of exploration. With amazing views to the Paine Massif, Paine River or Salto Chico Falls, their welcoming and cozy decoration make them a unique place to disconnect yourself and enjoy.

Highlights Include:

Lago Grey: Travel by van to Grey Lake. Start your walk crossing the suspension bridge over the Pingo River and continue through a forest until you reach the lake shore. Once there we walk along the beach to see the glacier and the icebergs that come off it. Return by van.

Laguna Negra: Depart from the stables and ride by horse across rivers, forests and pampas as you ascend towards the viewpoint of the Negra Lagoon. On the way you will pass by several lagoons, ideal for spotting different species of birds such as southern lapwings or Magellanic geese.

Estepa Patagonica: Travel through the eastern sector of the park combining stretches in van with short walks. This sector is mainly characterized by the presence of animals such as guanacos, pumas and flamencos, as well as its extensive pampas, typical of the Patagonian steppe. First, visit the Nordenskjöld Lake viewpoint and the Paine Grande waterfall, then travel by van to the Los Cisnes Lagoon and finally to the Amarga Lagoon.

Mirador Pehoe: Leave the hotel walking along the shore of Pehoé Lake, observing the orchids and ñirre trees that make up the local flora. Ascend to a viewpoint from which you can see the extension of the lake and the Paine mountain range from a different perspective than you have previously from explora.

Exploring Patagonia

Explora Patagonia offers guests the opportunity to create their own personalized experience in the heart of Patagonia by choosing from a set of onsite activities. The itinerary outlined below is provided as a sample and can be tailored to meet the unique requirements of each client.

In the morning, you'll depart from the hotel in a comfortable van, and head towards the Grey Lake station. The first stop will be the hanging bridge over the roaring Pingo River. From there, we'll make our way through the Lenga forest until we reach the windy shores of Lake Grey, where you'll be awestruck by the massive icebergs that calve off the Grey Glacier. After a moderate hike uphill, you'll get an up-close view of the glacier's impressive icy expanse. We'll then return to the Grey station, where a van will be waiting to take you back to the hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon, we'll set out on foot along the beautiful Pehoe Lake, with opportunities to spot various orchids and ñirre trees that make up the local flora. We'll ascend to a triangular rock that offers stunning panoramic views of the intense blue of Lake Pehoe and the Paine ridge. On a clear day, you'll enjoy an exceptional bird's-eye perspective, completely different from the hotel's view. Finally, we'll descend and catch a glimpse of the turquoise stones of the Paine River from a distance.

Later in the day, you'll meet with a guide to discuss your upcoming activities for the following day.

Exploring Patagonia

After a hearty breakfast, we'll depart from the stables on horseback, riding through forests, pampas, and rivers en route to the Black Lagoon lookout. This two-hour ride will take us past several lagoons, providing ample opportunities to spot a variety of bird species, including teros and caiquenes.

Later in the day, you can choose to embark on an exhilarating bike excursion through the stunning landscapes of Cañadón Macho. Starting from the Laguna Azul area, we'll gear up and hop on our bikes, beginning our journey with a mainly downhill ride. The area is known for its abundant guanaco population, with sentinels keeping watch over the herd from atop the hills. In the distance, the Three Towers soar above the horizon as we make our way back to the hotel.

You'll have the option to cycle all the way back to Tierra Patagonia, or you can opt to rest and catch a ride in the support vehicle whenever you're ready.
