TRAVELLERS STUCK ON THE CHIMU CHARTERED OCEAN ATLANTIC SHIP
The Ocean Atlantic, chartered by Chimu Adventures, was re-routed due to new port restrictions in Puerto Madryn where it was originally set to disembark on the 21st of March 2020.
The situation as it is at the moment is:
The ship was allowed to dock at Montevideo port in Uruguay after clearing travellers health.
All Nationalities bar Australians and New Zealanders have already departed via commercial flights.
Remaining Australian and New Zealand travellers left Montiveo airport on LATAM flight chartered by Chimu Adventures at 5:45 pm 01 April 2020 Uruguay time. This is heading for Santiago where they will transit before leaving South America for Australia.
We have been working on this jointly with DFAT, MFAT Albatros Expeditions, the ship owners, IAATO and port authorities, as well as the Australian embassy and now airport authorities to make this happen.
For any further concerns or questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We cannot promise we will get back to everyone in a timely manner due to our influx of enquiries but please bear with us. Next of kin for travellers onboard the Ocean Atlantic will get priority.
In the meantime, we will keep this page updated as the news comes to hand. Again we thank you for your patience during this very trying time.
