Discover the natural wonders of Santa Cruz Island on this 4 day Galapagos adventure, featuring visits to the highlands, Tortuga Bay, and the renowned Charles Darwin Station. Spend two full days exploring nearby islands like Bartolome, North Seymour, Plazas, or Santa Fé on guided sailing excursions, with opportunities for hiking, wildlife encounters, and snorkeling. Ideal for travellers seeking a land-based experience with rich biodiversity and iconic Galapagos landscapes.
After your flight from Quito or Guayaquil into Baltra airport a naturalist guide will transfer you to the Puerto Ayora. On your way, you will visit the highlands and see the giant land tortoises. You would have time for lunch here while enjoying the magnificent view. Afterwards, you will continue on to Puerto Ayora.
In the afternoon, you will have time to enjoy the beach of Tortuga Bay. While here you will walk for around 45 minutes through a cactus trail on to the first beach, Playa Brava, so names for its strong currents. Observe an abundance of marine iguanas and marine birds, like pelicans. After visiting Playa Brava, you continue on with a 15 minute walk Playa Mansa. This beach is a natural lagoon visited by blue footed boobies and pelicans. You have time to relax here with a swim or just soaking up the sun before heading back on your return walk. Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant.
Note: It is important to choose an early flight that arrives into Baltra no later than 10am to fulfil this itinerary
After breakfast, you will picked you up at the hotel and taken to todays meeting point where you will start your tour. The aim is to visit one of the below island per day depending on availability. Lunch is included onboard the small yacht. In the afternoon return to the port.
North Seymour Island is a spectacular place for hiking, swimming and snorkelling. The main attraction here is the wildlife like frigate birds, boobies, gulls, hawks, green sea turtles and the famous Galapagos Sharks.
Bartolome Island has some of the most attractive landscapes in the archipelago. This island is undoubtedly the most photographed of all the Galapagos Islands. Witness spectacular views of two beautiful bays and see the fascinating formations of lava and volcanic cones.
Plazas is a combination of two islands. The turquoise waters of the channel contrast brilliantly with the white sand and black lava coast. It is an amazing place to observe the diverse marine life, including manta rays. Coastal bays are a perfect spot for some amazing snorkelling.
Santa Fé is a small island in the South-East of Santa Cruz, home to an abundance of sea lions. Here you will also find the endemic land iguanas, with their beautiful bright colours. A walking tour will then take you on to the beach. After lunch you will have time for snorkelling where you may be lucky enough to observe sharks and turtles.

An early morning start will have you visiting Charles Darwin Station, home to a variety of species of Giant Tortoises. You will hear about the ongoing conservation efforts directed at preserving the Giant Tortoises, as well as the environment of the archipelago as a whole. Afterwards, the guide will take you back to the airport, about a one hour journey. At the airport, board your flight back to Quito or Guayaquil.
Note: It is important to choose a flight departing no earlier than 12pm from Baltra to ensure you have time for todays itinerary
