Exclusive Chimu Charter

Arctic Unveiled Cruise

Chimu Adventures is renowned for their charters to Antarctica and in 2019 we are launching our first Arctic exclusive departure. Come aboard the refurbished Ocean Atlantic and cruise the world's largest areas of untouched nature. Set amidst overwhelming scenery of imposing mountain ranges, beautiful glaciers and spectacular cliffs, you will be able to see bearded seals, walruses, the Arctic fox, pink-footed gooses and maybe even a polar bear. Join us on this trip of a lifetime!
Our Arctic cruise departs from Longyearbyen, the largest settlement and the administrative capital of the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard. Then the journey takes us along the west coast, where we hope to arrive in Krossfjorden, where we board the Zodiacs for a cruise along the face of the 14th of July Glacier. On the nearby cliffs, Arctic puffins and guillemots can be found. After this, the ship sails to the most northerly permanent settlement; Ny Ålesund. If the weather is favaurable, the ship will sail to the mouth of Liefdefjorden, where we will go ashore for a walk. Cruising further, we will see the 5 kilomtre long face of the Monacobreen Glacier, where sometimes Polar bears can be seen. Cruising into Hinlopen Strait, Polar bears, ivory gulls, walruses, reindeer, pink-footed geese, ringed seals and beared seals can be spotted. We also hope to reach the Seven Islands north of Nordaustlandet, where we attampt to land on Phippsøya. Walruses will often be found here hauled out on land. When retracing our route westwards, we visit Raudfjord. On the 7th day, we plan to make a landing at the northern tip of Prins Karls Forland. At the end of our Arctic cruise, we disembark in Longyearbyen.
