with their favourite trips, exclusive PONANT deals and the opportunity to win a trip to Antarctica

Sydney. Tuesday 27th August 2019.

The Latin America and Polar Travel Specialists, Chimu Adventures, turned 15 on the 25th July 2019 and they have been celebrating like it’s 2004 ever since. During August, they brought you the inspiring story from their founders of how the business began and the lessons learnt in 15 years, plus a Latin fiesta at a Mexican community cantina in Sydney. Chimu conclude this fiesta with a showcase of their favourite trips, exclusive offers with luxury cruise liner, PONANT, and the opportunity to win a trip for two to Antarctica.

Chimu’s people are at the core of what they do and Chimu invited them to share their favourite trips this month. From their Destination Specialists, to their Relationship Managers, to the behind the scenes operations, everyone plays a unique part in the business. What unites them is a passion for Latin America and polar travel. Chimu co-founder, Greg Carter, elaborates: “When Chad and I started the business, we knew it wouldn’t be easy. Our team is the heartbeat of our existence – they not only build and promote the itineraries we run, but also travel on them.” Carter encourages potential clients to explore Chimu’s favourite trips featured on this page which have been personally selected by Chimu staff. From a classic Antarctic Peninsula expedition cruise as chosen by Destination Specialist, Craig Deuchar, to a tailor made Highlights of Peru journey from Relationship Manager, Tenille Hunt, travellers cannot get a higher recommendation.

August saw Chimu partner with luxury cruise liner, PONANT, to bring clients an exclusive €300 per person onboard credit on all PONANT cruises for bookings made up until the 31st August. As Australia’s largest polar wholesaler, Chimu were delighted to combine their expert Arctic and Antarctic knowledge with such a prestigious cruise company. To help agents sell this luxury product, Chimu created a dedicated PONANT landing page which features the discounted PONANT expeditions and a Marketing Pack of educational videos and other selling tools.

Chimu’s 15th birthday celebrations also saw the launch of their Antarctica competition giving participants a chance to win a trip for two to Antarctica. The prize includes international flights from Australia, the UK, or the US and is aboard their new vessel, the Ocean Endeavour.  In line with Chimu’s motto of ‘Live for Today’ and the belief that life is more interesting when you do, potential winners can visit this page where they are asked to submit a photo of themselves ‘living for today;’ give Chimu a reason why they should be selected and then share it with their friends and family in order to gain votes. The lucky winner, plus travel companion, will embark on an 11-day expedition cruise of the Antarctic Peninsula departing on the 22nd November 2020. Valued at a huge AU$28 000/GBP16 000/ US$20 000, the competition deadline has been extended until 30th September due to its popularity. Anyone from the travel industry/general public can enter so get involved!
