Spot penguins from your zodiac or hiking in Antarctica. Common species on the peninsula are the Gentoo, Chinstrap and Adelie penguins.
On the Ocean Endeavour, our guides are truly the captains of the guests' experience down in Antarctica. We have several onboard experts, including a marine biologist, a geologist, glaciologist, even a penguin-ologist! They share their passions during the presentations and educational program that we have on board the ship.
Enjoy an Antarctica cruise package from Australia, with flights included to Buenos Aires, and to/from Ushuaia, where you will embark on your expedition cruise, all as part of this all inclusive package. Spend the night in the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires before flying to Ushuaia, nicknamed the end of the world!
Spend one night in Ushuaia and have some free time to explore the city and surrounds.
You will then embark on your small expedition ship, the MV Ocean Albatros. The ship is an X-bow design and is built for cruising in the polar regions. Start your voyage by cruising through the Beagle Channel and crossing the infamous Drake Passage. During the crossing and sea days, you will learn more about Antarctica from the expert expedition crew and enjoy lectures and use of the facilities onboard. Keep an eye out for the many sea birds that escort the ship.
Arriving at the South Shetland Islands, you will have your first glimpse of the icy wilderness of Antarctica and enjoy landings and/or zodiac cruising here (subject to weather and sea conditions).
Continue on to the Antarctic Peninsula and enjoy the ethereal landscapes of the White Continent. Witness penguins coming ashore and building nests and cruise via zodiac past yawning Weddell seals, lazing on the ice. Your time in Antarctica includes two daily excursions (subject to weather and regulations) with a mix of landings and zodiac cruising. Cruise back across the Drake and disembark your ship in Ushuaia, saying farewell to newfound friends.
After disembarking from the place you’ve called home for the past 11 days, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your return flight to Buenos Aires. There, you’ll enjoy one final night—reflecting on your incredible journey to the Great White Continent and the privilege of being among the few who have experienced this extraordinary destination.
After enjoying breakfast on your final morning, you’ll check out of the hotel and be transferred to the airport for your journey home.
You will arrive in Argentina's cosmopolitan capital city, Buenos Aires. You will be take a private transfer to your hotel with an English-speaking guide. Known as the 'Paris of the South', Buenos Aires has a charming and alluring atmosphere. It features wide avenues lined with colonial buildings, fashionable shops and Parisian-style bakeries and cafés.
The city is located on the western shore of the Río de la Plata and has many fascinating neighbourhoods to discover. Today is an arrival day and you are free to explore at your leisure.
Today you will be transferred to the airport in Buenos Aires and fly to Ushuaia.
After a friendly welcome at the airport and a transfer to the luxurious Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa, take some time to unwind or explore the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. (In the unlikely event that you can't be accommodated at the Arakur, you'll unwind at another of Ushuaia's top luxury hotels.)
Our optional evening briefing is your opportunity to ask questions and meet some of your fellow explorers.
Spend your morning relaxing at the hotel, visiting a museum, or exploring the shops in Ushuaia, before our mid-afternoon escort to the ship. Our Expedition Team and ship staff will welcome you on board and get you settled in, followed by a safety and orientation briefing and our Captain’s welcome dinner. We’re on our way to Antarctica!
Join our Polar Experts as they share their vast knowledge of Antarctica, from its enchanting wildlife to its bold history. Participate in our pioneering Citizen Science program or sit back and take in this fabled journey while catching glimpses of rarely seen wildlife. Keep your binoculars handy to identify the many seabirds that escort our ship as we cross the Antarctic Convergence into Antarctica’s waters and noticeably cooler temperatures.
Over time, the volcanic activity of the South Shetland Islands has created a geology unlike any other. Here, you can expect a rugged display of mountains, glaciers, and wildlife returning to their busy daily activity after the long winter break. Chinstrap and Gentoo penguins will be a common sight, and it’s not uncommon to share the water’s edge with Elephant and Fur seals. Whales are often spotted as well. So, we’ll settle into our Zodiacs and spend most of our day exploring, perhaps stopping for a walk along the black sands of Deception Island. Whether on land or sea, in a Zodiac or kayak, be prepared for a fully immersive introduction to this incomparable part of the world.
Welcome to Antarctica in all its just-waking-up-from-winter glory. Untouched. Pristine. Getting busy. For the next couple of days, prepare to be amazed as we observe numerous species of penguins coming ashore and getting acquainted, building nests, and tending their eggs. Marvel at the winter sea ice that mantles these frigid seas, feast your eyes on glorious icebergs beginning the springtime march, and, as always, be on the lookout for seals and whales in the water. At day’s end, take in the miraculous sunsets that are a special treat this time of year. Visits to active scientific bases and historic landing sites may also be on the agenda.
We leave this magical place and make our way north, once again crossing the legendary Drake Passage. We have one last hurrah as we celebrate the conclusion of our expedition with a special slideshow and a final meal together.
With huge smiles on weary, content faces, you will disembark in the morning and take a flight to Buenos Aires. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Today you will be transferred back to Buenos Aires Ezezia Airport (EZE) in time for your onward departure flight before saying farewell to the beautiful country of Argentina.
