This is Expedition Cruising

THIS IS EXPEDITION CRUISING

Welcome to the world of expedition cruising, where each day brings unexpected adventures. Focused on exploration and wildlife, expedition cruising is for anyone hoping to visit remote locations for wildlife viewing, zodiac rides, and immersion in the destination.

For rugged and isolated places like Antarctica, the Arctic, the Galapagos Islands, and the Amazon River, expedition cruising is the best way to discover the destination, as small expedition ships can access small bays and inlets off-limits to larger vessels.

Each day's schedule is flexible, with your experienced crew tailoring your plans to maximise the adventure. With expedition cruising, the destination is the main drawcard, with low passenger numbers providing ample opportunities to get off the ship and onto land.

Contact us to get started. Our friendly team of Destination Specialists is here to help you plan your dream adventure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Expedition cruising is a style of travel focussed on exploration, wildlife, and immersive, educational experiences. As you travel to remote locations, you'll leave the ship on zodiacs for shore landings, zodiac cruising, and many other activities.

The destination is the main drawcard, not the ship itself, and each day's itinerary is generally flexible - your experienced expedition team will plan each day's activities based on the weather conditions, wildlife sightings, and more, ensuring you maximise your adventures each day!

Yes, Chimu's small ship expedition cruises are the best way to visit remote and rugged parts of the world, including Antarctica, the Arctic, the Galapagos Islands, the Amazon, and the fjords of Patagonia.

Expedition cruises with Chimu Adventures are limited to fewer than 200 passengers for the Arctic and Antarctica, but ships to places like the Galapagos and the Amazon usually take far less. Small ships offer a more immersive experience and create more opportunities to get off the ship to visit your destination.

The Antarctica expedition seasons runs from late October through March, within the Southern Hemisphere summer season. Each month of the Antarctic season brings incredible opportunities to observe wildlife, icebergs, and epic landscapes.

You can cruise the Galapagos year-round, but the most popular time of year to visit is between December and May. This is the warm season, ideal for wildlife watching, snorkelling, and lots of sunshine. However, June-November is a great time to visit as well, especially if you want to observe whales.
