Originally built in 1956, the MS Nordstjernen was extensively modernised in 2000 and restored to her former splendour with classic wooden interiors and new brass, ensuring that she retained the aura of an old Atlantic ship. Named after the North Star, she is now used exclusively in the Arctic where she cruises around Spitsbergen. Ship facilities include a dining room, bar, café, panoramic lounge and library. Much of the outer deck space is covered, enabling passengers to take in the views from outside, even in rough weather. The cabins are interior and exterior, the majority being fitted with upper and lower berths and washbasins, with shared bathrooms in the hallways.
