ROALD AMUNDSEN

Overview

Due to be launched in 2019, the MS Roald Amundsen is named after the Norwegian explorer who was the first man to cross Antarctica and reach the South Pole. This state of the art vessel, specially built for Polar voyages, features new and environmentally sustainable hybrid technology to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, by sailing with electrical propulsion. At the front of the ship there is a two-level indoor/outdoor observation deck and the Amundsen Science Centre, an immersive educational and entertainment centre that is equipped with touch screens and science equipment, speciality areas for photography and biology workshops and areas for lectures. Other facilities on board include three restaurants, a medical centre, gym and wellness centre, sauna, pool deck, outdoor gym and running track. The relaxed and stylish cabins and suites all feature outside windows, some including private balconies and some even featuring private outdoor Jacuzzis.
