Arrival Transfer in Bariloche

San Carlos de Bariloche lies on the southern shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi in the foothills of the Andes surrounded by mountains and forests. Its location is stunning, surrounded by the Nahuel Huapi National Park, the oldest National Park in Argentina. With its Alpine-styled architecture, its picturesque lakeside setting overlooked by mountains and forests as well as numerous boutique chocolate shops and St. Bernard dogs, the city has a Swiss-like atmosphere.

This traditional trip along the southern shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi is the most popular tour in Bariloche, and is a quick and easy way to get an overview of the Nahuel Huapi Lake. There is a great viewpoint of the Llao Llao Hotel and the lakes, as well as attractions like the Saint Edward Chapel, near Port Pañuelo. 17 kilometres away from Bariloche you will find Mount Campanario, where you can take a chairlift and enjoy the incredible views.

Half Day Llao llao Peninsula

In due time you will be collected from your hotel to begin this boat excursion that starts in López Bay navigating along the most remote and less visited branch of the Nahuel Huapi Lake, the Tristeza Sound. Beautiful mountains and waterfalls surround this part of the lake.

If the weather conditions are good you can appreciate a beautiful view of the Tronador Mountain. Once you reach the shore you will start a hike in the forest among amazing trees like Coihues and Alerces (larch trees). The trail climbs up to a group of beautiful waterfalls coming down from the Frey River. On the way back to the port you will enjoy lunch on board the Kaiken Patagonia boat.

On completion of your tour, you will be taken to your hotel. Please note this is small group and includes lunch. Level of difficulty is easy.

Half Day Boat Trip to the Tristeza Branch

You will be collected from your hotel at the appropriate time and transferred to the airport for your onward flight.

Chimu Adventures undertakes a number of sustainability measures within its operations including:

1) Only using local guides and office staff to both maximise local employment opportunities and minimise carbon footprints. Local guides also ensure you benefit from the intimate knowledge, passion and culture of the country you’re visiting.

2) Where possible, using locally owned and operated boutique hotels to maximise the return to the local community.

3) Chimu’s “Pass it on” programme has provided funding to hundreds of local community projects in Latin America. Our aim is to empower local communities, helping them to develop their own infrastructure for the future. Since 2006, we have been working with Kiva (a well-known Non-Governmental Organisation), providing hundreds of loans to local businesses all over South America.

4) In our pre tour information we provide a range of tips and advice on how to minimise your impact on both local environments and communities.

5) Chimu Adventures’ offices also take a number of sustainability measures including carbon offsets for company vehicles and most staff travel. Chimu Adventure’s internal processes are also structures to create a paperless office and to reduce waste. There are also internal programmes to help staff minimise their carbon footprint such as our staff bike purchase assistance plan which encourages office staff to commute to work via bicycle. Currently almost half of our office based staff commute to work via bicycle.
