CRUISE ITINERARY

This adventure starts with an overnight stay in Buenos Aires, the bustling capital of Argentina. We offer an optional city tour in the afternoon. Spend the evening at your leisure and discover ”Paris of South America” for yourself.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Fly early in the morning to Ushuaia, where MS Fridtjof Nansen awaits. Once on board, we kick off our journey with a welcome-on-board dinner.

Tierra del Fuego

Prepare yourself for Antarctica as we cross the infamous Drake Passage, and trust us - it will overwhelm you! MS Fridtjof Nansen is designed especially to bring polar exploration to all ages and learning levels. There will also be several lectures on the environment around us; films about Antarctica and the Activity Center will be providing the latest technology for preserving your memories. This will be the heart of the expedition community, where we gather for talks, recaps and spontaneous events, mingle and share stories.

Crossing the Drake Passage - Day 3 & 4

Welcome to the most remote area on Earth! Come ashore to explore the breathtaking Antarctic scenery and encounter penguins. From the deck, there will be ample opportunities to sight whales and seals.

We always work with the elements in Antarctica, and we aim to land on the South Shetland Islands and on the Antarctic Peninsula.

The places we visit are serene and offer opportunities to observe different types of Antarctic wildlife, including penguin colonies, seals, whales, glaciers, icebergs in every shape and colour, whaling stations and scientific stations.

Our activities are exciting and varied. One day you will go ashore to see penguins and hear the crackling sounds of glaciers. The next day, you may get to feel the wind as you cruise amid the sea ice, looking for seals. Another day you may choose optional kayaking or a walk. Our onboard photographer will be on hand to show you the basics of expedition photography to capture these amazing experiences.

Antarctica - Day 5-9

After exploring this exhilarating continent, we set course back to civilisation. Spend the day at sea recapping your experiences, having fun in the Activity Center or just relaxing on deck.

At Sea – Drake Passage - Day 10 & 11

Our expedition cruise ends as we reach Ushuaia, and we transfer you to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires.

SPEAK TO A SPECIALIST

Sustainability

As a member of IAATO we follow guidelines appointed by the Antarctic Treaty System to go above and beyond in support of minimizing negative impacts on this pristine landscape. We also encourage clients to look to book pre-and post- accommodation with us, where local businesses will be supported. Our clients also receive restaurant recommendations which support locally owned restaurants

We carefully select all ships we work with and choose smaller sized vessels to create less impact. We use a highly regulated, licensed vessel which is well equipped to operate in the Antarctic’s delicate ecosystem. We view the voyage to the Antarctic as an expedition, not a sightseeing trip. Smaller boats such as ours can navigate narrow waterways and are far less polluting than the larger ships in Antarctic waters. By carrying less passengers, we have far less waste. The waste is carried back to the home port to allow for environmentally conscious waste management and disposal.
